We find talent that solves complex problems across the public policy, public relations, regulatory and planning sectors.
How long have you been in your line of work? How did you discover your passion?
I have been working in recruitment since early 2008, so just over 10 years now. Recruitment for me is not a passion; helping people to have fulfilling careers and organisations to succeed are my passions. Recruitment is a medium to do this on a daily basis.
What’s the biggest challenge facing your industry today?
The biggest challenge facing the sectors we recruit for today is a complex talent marketplace that does not create the niche skill sets that are needed by the industry.
How has the industry changed since you first started?
The digital revolution has really missed recruitment, with most recruiters still working off playbooks based in the 1980s, let alone the 2000s. We are trying to change this for our small part of the industry.
What would you tell your 18-year-old self?
If I had a time machine I would tell my 18-year-old self not to go to university for three years, and instead put 80 per cent of my take-home pay into Amazon and Google! Then I’d basically retire. However, my 18-year-old self would have told me to go away as that sounds boring. I was bad at taking advice at 18 so there is not much I would really be able to tell my 18-year-old self.
Three guests are coming for dinner: living or dead. Who do you invite and why?
My three grandparents who have passed away, to have one last conversation about all the things I wish I’d asked about as a child. Ordinary questions about the world they grew up in, or if they had met Elvis yet. That sort of thing.
What should we be getting excited about for Westminster Search?
Every candidate that we help find a new job we help move a step closer to fulfilling their dreams and ambitions. Nothing is more exciting than that!
