When This Is Over is…ON
This custom-made webpage comes to you in anticipation of the When This Is Over party. You may remember, back in November when I was all high on mince pies, I invited you to a summer party.
Said fiesta is my way of saying thank you to all you wonderful clients, associates and all-round mates for keeping me sane throughout 2020. Better still, a lot of you have put food on my table – so thank you!
To refresh your memory, here are the party details:
Thursday 8th July
7pm but feel free to rock up earlier.
Balloons aren’t allowed so it’s not like I’ll be busy.
Victoria Gate 3rd Floor Rooftop, George St, Leeds LS2 7AU
Issho – meaning ‘together’ in Japanese – is a contemporary Japanese rooftop restaurant & bar in Leeds’ Victoria Gate.
Gosh, that sounds lovely. But how do I get there?
Issho is a 9-minute walk from Leeds train station. You’ll have to enter through the Victoria Shopping Centre and take the lift up to the beautiful themed rooftop bar. That’s quite pleasant in itself.
The average journey time from Leeds to Manchester is 1 hour and 9 minutes but you can catch faster ones. The last train leaves at 11pm – kicking out time is 11pm anyway, so that won’t be a problem.
Trains from York to Leeds take as little as 21 minutes. The last train leaves at 11:30 (or 2:30 for the party animals).
London trains leave from Kings Cross and take just over 2 hours.
Those coming from the Midlands can change at Peterborough or Sheffield for a direct route. Peterborough takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes while Sheffield takes around 1 hour and 20.
I don’t plan on stumbling home. Anywhere to stay?
At the time of writing (22nd February 2021), hotels range from £29 to £71 per night. Enjoy no frills Travelodge or swanky Malmaisons. I will be staying over!
What do I get in exchange for this effort?
The pleasure of my company. But seriously. Drinks and a generous selection of delicious canapés. A bar, DJ and a beautiful rooftop for smirting. Maybe a kebab later if the night goes well.
More importantly, something we’ve all been craving – a night out in the pub! Issho is gorgeous and there will be a bubbly reception, so get your glad rags on. You know, those things hiding under your pyjamas.
But what about this guy?
This page was written on Monday 22nd February. At the time of writing, the following ‘end of lockdown’ restrictions were set out:
Pubs and indoor restaurants to open on May 17
‘Almost all restrictions’ lifted by June 21
Obviously this all depends on vaccine availability.
I would never ask you to compromise your safety and certainly hope that most if not all of us will have had our first jabs by then. If we need to push the party back, so be it. Safety comes first.
But I want to go on holiday…
Hard cheese. They haven’t mentioned holidays so you’ll have to drink with me instead. Chin up – it’s got an international theme! Stay in a hotel and it’ll feel like a holiday…
On a serious note…
You do not know what your support means to me and I want to say thank you. I may be overexcited at the idea of going to the pub, but from the bottom of my heart, I would not be where I am today without people like you. It’s a token of my appreciation.
*SUBJECT TO CHANGE*
This is all assuming everything goes well, so let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best. I will keep you posted. Until then…let’s get drunk.
